This notable programme, which has been replicated in other governorates by the Government of Egypt, improved the human security of vulnerable households in Upper Egypt by promoting community-owned priority interventions, improving income-generating opportunities, and strengthening social cohesion. By establishing multi-stakeholder forums, the programme ensured a collaborative approach to decision-making and implementation of initiatives across national and local stakeholders, including target communities. This built local capacity to execute participatory dialogue platforms for sustainable development, providing the foundation for the replication and scale-up of interventions that address the complex development context in the region.
