Budget: US$4,710,075 (UNTFHS: $2,056,075; Pooled Funding: $2,654,000)
Implementing Agencies: UNDP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNV
Capitalizing on the notable success of a previous UNTFHS initiative in the Aral Sea region, this programme scaled-up a comprehensive and preventive approach that went beyond quick fixes towards long-term mitigation, adaptation and response mechanisms. To this end, the programme partnered with the Government of Uzbekistan to establish the Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region to address the challenges facing communities as the region undergoes a transformation into an innovation hub for Central Asia.
