    The programme targeted the communities of Hajiganj and Shahrasti – two districts in Bangladesh with the highest levels of arsenic intoxication – and provided appropriate technology to eliminate arsenic from drinking water, enhanced the capacities of local institutions to treat arsenicosis-affected patients, and raised awareness of arsenic-related issues to avoid further contamination.
