Dr. Nayat Sánchez-Pi is a distinguished expert in Responsible Artificial Intelligence, currently serving as the Director of Inria Chile and the Director of the Binational Franco-Chilean Center on AI. Her extensive international career has spanned Europe and Latin America, with significant time spent in Spain, Brazil, France, and Chile.

Before her leadership roles at Inria, she was a professor of Artificial Intelligence and Human-Computer Interaction at the State University of Rio de Janeiro, where she co-founded and co-led the Research Group on Artificial Intelligence and Optimization (RIO Group). She also held a professorship at the University Carlos III of Madrid, where she earned her Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence with an Extraordinary PhD Award. Her research is focused on AI, machine learning, and human-computer interaction to solve real-world problems with significant social, economic, and technological impact, always emphasizing responsible and ethical approaches.

A key figure in AI governance, Sánchez-Pi collaborates with governments on national AI strategies and works with UNESCO. She is a member of expert groups at influential organizations like the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), and the Global Commission on Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain (GC REAIM). She has also been appointed as an Associated Expert Personality of the Foreign Trade Advisors of France. She holds a position on the board of directors of the Chilean Association of Information Technology Companies (ACTI). Since 2018, she has been a driving force at Inria, leading its research center in Chile with a regional scope and serving as its CEO.
