Urvashi Sarkar is an independent journalist based in India, with a focus on international politics, gender and culture. She was a 2016 fellow with the People's Archive of Rural India (PARI), as part of which she covered the Indian Sundarbans mangrove forests and the everyday lives of inhabitants caught in between multiple developmental and environmental conflicts. She has also reported on the aftermath of communal violence and people's movements for peace in India, the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh and cultural resistance in Palestine. She is currently working on a series that decodes the phenomenon of think tanks in India. At the United Nations, Ms. Sarkar is interested in writing about the Women, Peace and Security agenda.
