The European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, will launch the report ”Investing in Sustainable Development”. The report provides an overview of the efforts of the European Union and its Member States in implementing the Addis Agenda and should serve as a basis for an interesting discussion with key partners.

Join the event and participate in an exchange on ambitious and timely investment in sustainable development!

Summary:

The Addis Ababa Action Agenda has significantly challenged the global landscape on financing for development by emphasizing the importance of non-financial means, domestic actions, the role of private sector and by putting cross-cutting issues such as gender equality and the environment at the centre.

Since 2015, the international community has made many efforts to reach the commitments made in Addis. To take a stock of the achievements and challenges in the implementation of Addis Agenda, the European Union, the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and Germany propose a side event to share best practices and identify areas where further efforts are needed.

During the event, the European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica will launch the report ”Investing in Sustainable Development”. It provides a comprehensive overview on the efforts of the combined European Union institutions and the Member States in implementing the Addis Agenda. While discussing the findings of the report, the participants will also share their experiences on domestic resource mobilization, climate finance, sustainable development growth strategies, promotion of digital solutions and support to and from the private sector.

A light lunch will be provided by the stairs behind left side of Vienna Café on the 1B Level from 12:00 to 13:00.
