International Labour Organization, Permanent Mission of Belgium to the United Nations
In the AAAA Member States committed to establish a new social compact. This social compact includes social protection (cash transfers) and social services (such as education, health, water, sanitation and housing). Countries are encouraged to set national spending targets for quality investments in these areas. The international community commits, as part of the social compact, to provide support to country efforts and to explore coherent funding possibilities.
The side event aims to stimulate a discussion on providing concrete suggestions on the operationalization of the Addis commitment to a new social compact, with a specific focus on social protection. Participants will discuss and explore coherent funding modalities for providing fiscally sustainable and nationally appropriated social protection floors, in terms of nationally appropriated spending targets and international support, including ODA allocations, as well as new innovative sources of finance
