2a. List of ministries and agencies involved:

The CDN, presided by the Ministry of Social Equipment and
Environment, is composed of 16 members representing the following
sectoral ministries: Ministries of: Social Equipment and Environment;
Finance and Planning; Agriculture; Foreign Affairs; Health;
Education; Defense; Industry; Trade and Tourism; Culture and Social
Communication.

Ecodes, Liga Ecologica.

3. Mandate role of above mechanism/council:
The mandate of the CDN is
to coordinate two projects: Capacity 21 project for the elaboration of

a national plan for environment and for sustainable development. This
project is in preparation and will be financed by Capacity 21.
Environmental law project for Africa. The sub-project for Sao Tomé within this project enhances
reinforcement of environmental legislation and institutions. This project started in December 1995 and is financed by
UNEP/UNDP. The CDN will supervise the two projects and guarantee involvement of all related sectors to environmental
management.
