Responsible Organization(s) | UNEP in cooperation with UNIDO.
Description | UNIDO and UNEP, in partnership with local host organizations, have supported policy analysis,

Issues addressed | In-plant demonstration projects; Cleaner production financing; Working out success indicators for the work progress and a workplan for ISO 14000 including extensive training.
Objectives | The UNIDO/UNEP NCPC activity aims to strengthen the local capacity to introduce, implement, and further develop cleaner production initiatives at the national level.
Results achieved | Cleaner production has been visible through general and specific (local case studies and demonstrations) information on what can be achieved by cleaner production.
Lessons learned | So far the centres are based on support from donor countries. The centers should focus more on policy development to increase the demand side of cleaner production.
Financing | UNEP, UNIDO and counterpart institutions in Europe and USA.
