3. Mandate role of above mechanism/council: The NRCA seeks to ensure prudent interaction between the population of the country and the physical environment so as to facilitate orderly social and economic development and to ensure that natural resources are wisely conserved and protected. The Authority actively liaises with other Government agencies through a Technical Advisory Committee, and also with community-based and environmentally-focused non-governmental organizations. The interaction with the NGO sector is facilitated by collaboration with the National Environmental Societies Trust (NEST) which is an umbrella organization representing at least 35 different organizations.
