Electronic Processing of Applications for UN Grounds Passes for Representatives of Civil Society Organizations Associated with UN Department of Global Communications - 23 March 2020

In light of the update on the work of UN Department of Safety and Security (DSS) in New York, the Civil Society Unit will now be electronically processing requests for UN Grounds Passes from eligible representatives of civil society organizations associated with the Department of Global Communications (DGC).

Eligible CSO representatives should complete the Application for UN Grounds Pass form (as a .doc file) and the Consent Form and email them to undgccso@un.org, along with a letter from the head of the organization designating them as a representative. For more information on designating CSO representatives to DGC for 2020, please review this note.

The Civil Society Unit will review submissions and return approved forms to applicants as PDF files via email. CSO representatives must bring a printed copy of the approved form to the UN Pass and ID Unit (320 East 45 Street, New York) during the new hours of operation: 9am to 12 Noon on weekdays. Please note that a government-issued photo I.D. is also required.

Kindly allow 72 hours for the Civil Society Unit to process applications for UN Grounds Passes. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Message from UN Department of Safety and Security (DSS) as of 20 March 2020

In accordance with the ongoing organizational directives to dramatically limit the number of staff members operating on UNHQ premises, and in an effort to lessen the direct contacts of those essential groups who must operate from the campus, the Security and Safety Service has been closely monitoring usage levels, and has noted the dramatic reduction of both the number of persons present, and the usage of admission points. As a result, the following operational adjustments have been implemented:

Pass and ID Office: Until further notice the operating hours of the Pass and ID Office will be 9AM to 12MD on weekdays.
The Pass Office will accept scanned PDF grounds pass applications from applicants who present themselves at the Pass Office. All relevant fields of the grounds pass application must be completed and signed by the Authorized Signatory. It can be digitally or manually signed.

Pedestrian Access 7AM to 6PM weekdays: Pedestrian access to the premises for all category of pass holders will be via the 42nd Street Staff Entrance. At all other times pedestrian access will be via the 43rd Street Main Gate.

Special Notice: All pass holders are reminded of the requirement to swipe in and out at the point of access to the premises and at the turnstiles.
