Description/outline
The project’s main activities include organizing regional workshops on preventing violent extremism and using Early Warning and Response Systems; supporting the development of Community Peacebuilding Action Plans and of a National Action Plan on Youth, Peace, and Security; providing vocational training and economic opportunities for at-risk youth; and conducting joint research with Chinese and Tanzanian institutions within the South-South and triangular cooperation framework.

Synopsis

Objectives

The project aims to improve the capacity of Tanzania’s peace and security actors in the prevention of violent extremism, thereby strengthening community resilience and development.

Components

The project’s main activities include organizing regional workshops on the prevention of violent extremism and the use of Early Warning and Response Systems by Neighbourhood Watch Groups, including the provision of equipment; facilitating regional advisory meetings to develop Community Peacebuilding Action Plans; supporting the formulation of a National Action Plan on Youth, Peace, and Security, aligned with the resolution of the Security Council 2250 (2015) through national meetings; conducting vocational training and providing economic empowerment and livelihood entrepreneurship opportunities for populations at risk of violent extremism; and carrying out collaborative research with Chinese and Tanzanian academic institutions to promote peace, security, and sustainable development within the framework of South-South and triangular cooperation.
