Israeli Minister Yossi Peled

Born in Belgium, Minister Yossi Peled of Israel and his sisters were adopted by a Christian family during World War II. His father and many other family members perished at Auschwitz and after the war, he and his two sisters were reunited with his mother in Israel.  A businessman who has been a board member of several large Israeli companies, Minister Peled is a member of the Likud party and serves in Israel’s Knesset. In his capacity as Minister, he also dedicates his time to a Government programme providing assistance to Holocaust survivors. Minister Peled is a retired Major General of the Israel Defence Force. In 1993, he founded the Second Authority for Television and Radio, Israel’s first commercial television station.
