They discussed Sudan’s participation in the sixty-eighth session as well as bilateral relations between Sudan and South Sudan, and developments in respect to Darfur. The State Minister underscored the importance of the support of the international community and the United Nations to national, regional and global initiatives to maintain peace and security. He recalled several initiatives that Sudan had undertaken vis-a-vis South Sudan.

He also recalled the International Donors Conference for Reconstruction and Development in Darfur held in Doha, Qatar in April this year. He expressed concern that pledges made at that Conference were yet to be fully honoured.

The President of the General Assembly thanked the State Minister for the informative exchange. He shared the hope that the pledges made at the Pledging Conference would be fulfilled. He also expressed his desire that Sudan will remain fully engaged in the work of the sixty-eighth session of the General Assembly.
