President Al–Nasser meets with the Foreign Minister of France
and other senior French officials
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser held talks today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, H.E. Alain Juppé. Their discussions focused on the latest developments in the situation in the Middle East and Somalia. They also exchanged views on the key issues on the agenda of the upcoming UN Conference on Sustainable Development, (Rio+20) to be held in Rio de Janeiro in June this year.
Also while in Paris and on the margins of his participation in the conference entitled “Towards new global governance for the environment”, President Al-Nasser held talks with Mr. Jean-Paul Delevoye, President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council of France. They exchanged views on the global economic situation and Rio+20.
President Al-Nasser also held discussions with the French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing, H.E. Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, over a working lunch hosted by Ms. Morizet and attended by other high level participants. President Al-Nasser congratulated the French Government for hosting the conference “Towards new global governance for the environment” as it brought together the various stakeholders and actors of Rio+20. They all agreed on the need for an ambitious outcome from the Rio+20 conference.
