The session was opened by the Chair of the Committee.
The provisional agenda, prepared on the basis of consultations among the members of the Bureau of the Committee, was adopted along with the programme of work.
The Committee considered requests for new members in the Committee.
The Chair made an opening statement to address the Committee.
The Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications addressed the Committee at its opening meeting to provide an update on the activities of the Department of Global Communications and to report on the implementation of the recommendations contained in General Assembly resolutions 74/92 A and B.
