Capacity Development and Advisory Services
Philippines

The Philippines' involvement in DPAD's capacity development activities started in 2008 with the participation in the project "Realizing the Millennium Development Goals through socially inclusive macroeconomic policies". The country made significant progress toward achieving the MDGs in recent years, but still faces a formidable challenge in attaining the goals by 2015 which is aggravated by the negative effects of the global economic crises. Capacity development activities aim at assessing the impact of existing economic and social policies on the MDGs, and at formulating and evaluating strategies that will help the country achieve the development goals.
The main national counterparts of DPAD in the Philippines are the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). DPAD collaborates closely with the United Nations Development Program country office in the Philippines for administrative support.
