From 8 to 9 April 2019 youth leaders from around the world will come to New York to take part in the UN Economic and Social Council's (ECOSOC) 8th Youth Forum entitled, Youth: Empowered, Included and Equal. The conference will feature a diverse group of young leaders who will share their ideas for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, and the Paris Climate Agreement. During the two-day discussion, the world's youth will discuss policies, perspectives, and new ideas with public and private sector organizations, civil society, representatives of Member States, and other youth leaders.

The 2019 UN meetings the youth leaders will contribute to and discuss during the Forum include:

  • The 2019 ECOSOC Substantive Session
  • The 2019 high-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF)
  • The Climate Summit
  • The High-level Meeting on Financing for Development
  • The SDG Summit

The event is designed to be inclusive and to provide a wide range of regional viewpoints and global perspectives related to the implementation and assessment of the Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout the forum, young people will have an opportunity to solve problems pertinent to younger generations and share their ideas for a better future.

The meeting will be streamed live via UN WebTV. Also, the participating members of the Youth Forum will ask questions using #Youth2030 on Twitter and Facebook.

The Youth Forum will result in a Presidential Statement that will reflect the important themes, ideas, and outcomes of the forum. Additionally, an informal summary and recommendations made during the event will be sent to stakeholders and decision-makers. Lastly, the findings, recommendations, and insights will be utilized in 2019 formal ECOSOC meetings, such as the ECOSOC High-Level Segment and High-level Political Forum.
