UNDESA and the Government of Indonesia, as co-organizers of DCF Indonesia High-level Symposium, have jointly decided to postpone the DCF Indonesia High-level Symposium in light of the current global developments of the COVID-19 outbreak. The co-organizers remain committed to convening the meeting in Bali once the circumstances are more conducive to an international symposium of this nature. Further details on the new dates for the Symposium are forthcoming.
The DCF Indonesia High-level Symposium will take place in Bali, Indonesia, from 4 to 6 March 2020.
The Symposium will identify concrete and actionable policy measures that can strengthen coherence between development cooperation, disaster risk and climate policies.
The programme features dynamic, action-oriented discussions on key topics:
- Supporting national and local policies and strategies for disaster reduction: tapping the potential of NDCPs and other enablers of effective development cooperation
- Aligning development cooperation with climate action
- Strengthening capacity support in data and statistics for disaster risk reduction and climate action
- Scaling-up impact of disaster risk reduction and climate policies: the role of regional and sub-regional development cooperation
It will explore how global frameworks, such as the Paris Agreement and Sendai Framework, are impacting development cooperation on the ground, and how realities from the ground up are informing and influencing the global policy discussions.
The Symposium will bring together 120 high-level officials and experts from all regions. It is jointly organized by the United Nations and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.
