Building Capacity of Central and Southeast Asian States for Streamlining and Strengthening Implementation of the UN Programme of Action on SALW and facilitating accession to the Arms Trade Treaty

Target countries:

Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia;

Southeast Asia: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam.

Goal: Strengthen the implementation of the PoA in Central and Southeast Asia by building capacity to reduce illicit arms flows; to utilize the PoA reporting mechanism to monitor and report progress towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals Target 16.4, as well as to implement the ATT in the future.

Activities: Training for relevant Southeast Asian and Central Asian officials including on PoA and ATT implementation and support for national actions to reduce flow of illegal arms.
