Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Control Measures in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)

Target countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina

Goal: Assist the government and Armed Forces of BiH (AF BiH) in increasing the security of SALW to reduce the risk of diversion from military stockpiles, thereby assisting them in meeting their international obligations and national priorities on SALW. UNSCAR funding will provide training and cover costs of 1 marking team & equipment to conduct the marking and registration of 12,000 (overall 63,247 in BiH) SALW currently held in military stockpiles. National authorities trained on SALW management and data collection will be more accountable and better equipped to control the flow of illicit or unmarked weapons.

Activities: Monitoring the progression of the project by tracking the activities and outputs against the logframe. Through this project, working with BICC, strengthening indicators for PSSM related activities. Quality checks, and external monitoring conducted by the BICC team producing reports and evaluations of the project’s operations and impact. Conducting regular internal audit visits to programs, conducting assessments and training.
