For single ammunition item only:
         Distance = 314(AUW)1/3

For multi-item fragmenting munitions:
         Distance = 470(AUW)1/5

These equations differ slightly from those used in the Explosion Danger Area Calculator, as no ballistic parabola needs to be taken into account.

Vertical Danger Area Calculator

This calculator is used to determine the vertical danger area about which it necessary to warn air traffic of detonations taking place on the ground. This warning may be published through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) filed with aviation authorities.

The All Up Weight (AUW) is the total weight of the munition, or munitions, including packaging and palletisation.
