For NGOs: UN General Assembly High-level Plenary Meeting to commemorate and promote the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons

Stakeholders: Apply to speak, attend, or for Selection Committee

On Tuesday, 26 September 2017, a high-level informal plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly will take place at UN Headquarters in New York with the aim to commemorate and promote the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

At the request of the Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA), UN-NGLS is facilitating a process for civil society to apply to speak at this special event, or attend as observers.

UN-NGLS will facilitate a stakeholder Selection Committee for the evaluation and short-listing of the candidates for the speaking roles to be presented to OPGA for their consideration. The Committee will ensure regional and gender balance, and diversity of constituency and expertise in the overall set of candidates. The President of the General Assembly will make the final selection of the speakers for this event.
