The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
The cries of fifty thousand people killed, Wearing shreds of ripped cloth, Moms and Papas fighting and crying, Tears running down their face while running, To those who have died during the atomic bomb, May they rest in peace, May the whole world have peace, And live long.
