Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

I saw a story in a face
Each line was penned as "true"
Mirrors of our human race
Well chaptered without glue.

No regimented start or close
Their plots convincing still
The inner minds no one knows
What utter peace? What thrills?

And so I live with shuttered eyes
March in steps my own
In hopes my face will never lie
