Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Nasty cold wind brought noise pollution,
Onslaught of people everywhere...
Why? I do ask you, wild and wicked HANDS,why?
Appalling blood rivers everywhere,
Ravages of everything everything...

Please,stop!We beg you,stop!
Everyone wants peace,everyone needs it.
Amused expressions need our eyes,
Colourful smiles need our faces,
Endless peace dream our souls.
Fossilized souls have even softened,
O,please,so,please never ruin or kill again! As
Real peace will save us all,
Even the world will be saved. So
Vengeful hands your take away,
Exchange the colours of the war
Reading warm words of my pray.
