The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Peace to War War isn’t the answer for peace It just brings hatred and sadness increase War is revenge And it only leads to more revenge The atomic bomb in Hiroshima was the worst With lots of sadness and tears burst All of the innocent lives taken away by one countries idea of war Lots of people separated or killed just by war It’s really heartbreaking to be killed so quickly So much pain so much hurt it’s badly How could nuclear weapons cause so much distress And so much horrible mess People will never forget this terrible moment It’s been marked in our heart for ever and giant May this remind us of how bad weapons and wars are And if you chose to help war will end not very far
