Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

~World Peace~

Everyday there is a crisis,
somewhere or the other in the world..
Bomb blast in Mumbai,
Terrorist attack at parliament,
26/11, 11/9, twin towers,
blast in train, hijack of airplane.
List is endless.
Terrorists know only one God
Its Terror and only Terror,
They all are so united for the cause.
World is full of screamings of
helplessness and anguish.
Terrorism is ruling everywhere.
It is the victory of evil over good.

But for how long ?
they are really very few,
so wht if they are omnipresent ?
our technology is so advanced,
our defence is so strong,
world is using all its strength,
we are, for the good cause.
It is for humanity, the mankind.
I am sure, we will get over it soon.
Its Peace that everyone wants,
Its Peace that everyone is crying for.
Its Peace that everyone is dying for.
Its Peace, Peace everywhere
that everyone is craving for.
Peace, the word itself is so fulfilling,
it fills every heart with good thoughts.

Let all of us do our bit,
to grab Peace for a Peaceful World.
