Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

How sad, now I feel bad.
I am terrified of hearing
So much people dying it just
 Makes me cry.
I heard a story of someone
Running for her live.
It just arrives to me of how can someone
Dead bodies were on the floor
 Bleeding including my neighbors nextdoor,
Proceeding to their next lives
With so many lying around left their family crying.
As my head was pounding
From all the screams and shouts,
I had only one thing on my mind
And that was to blow myself out,
Realizing that I was home alone.
So I gave up and just ran into flames suddenly
  I heard a voice saying
Why are you doing this? This is a disgrace.
It was too late for her to stop and save herself in the burning flames
I start to wonder that it looks like a game
Which is not it is a shame
Remembering all that was known to blame and
Just forgetting about the past and just moving on.
