The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Horror on people's faces as the atomic bomb was dropped. Many people ran for cover but some people did not. The atomic bomb was massive and it created many problems I hope that it will never again fall upon all of us. Children crying for mothers who were already dying They were loud as an incoming train looking for their brothers. Every body all around came running to aid they were the rescuers, the people who helped all day.
