Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

I was standing against the hell fire
There was some eggs behind me
The birds, today flying, are them

if someone says "Peace"
Half of us understands a piece
Others it means 'pees'

There is a shadow on the sky-a bird was flying at that time
You will never see it-the bird hidden us
We are here on the earth-we are still alive

If you see a rainbow over the city
The ancestors are rounding and dancing
Because they are happy no more bombs

Every night the Heaven cries with beautiful shooting stars
Every morning the Sun shines for our beautiful life
Between them we do everything it happens
