The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
"peace on paper wings" peace is freedom from disturbance freedom from dark clouds and heavy chains peace is a breeze whispering of hopeful things gently caresses your hair peace is a bashful sunrise blushing slowly crawling over the horizon peace is there one minute gone the next timid and hesitant but also quiet and strong an idea a feeling a goal a hope that takes flight on paper wings
