Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

I want to live in a world
where everyone has the right
to await Freedom.
I want to live in a world
where dreaming is dignity
and not a shame,
where there is no need to reconsider
one's importance in the human society,
but it's rather a birthright.

— Walter William Safar
