The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
When the Time Comes When the time comes That we think back and ponder, Would we see our mistakes And hold our heart out in wonder? When the time comes, Would we look at and see The destruction we’re capable of And the destruction we’ve caused already? As humans we make mistakes. As monsters we don’t know What mistakes are. So is it true that we reap what we sow? Innocents can die And many more can suffer. But when will the time come, That we have sincere remorse to offer? What happened in 1945 Left many horrified and numb But I guess apathy is prevalent Until the time comes.
