Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Ashes, ashes everywhere,

Nature doesn’t seem to care.

Radiation in the air,

Spreading sorrow everywhere.

A great tragic,

No more sparks of magic.

People dying,

I hear angels crying.

Hibakusha must be relieved,

That their future is retrieved.

When I heard of what arose in Hiroshima and Nagasaki,

It tempted me to go back in time to stop him.
