The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
I see the bodies Of soldiers splattered on the floor I regret seeing this tragedy No more I was trembling with tears I was sitting alone in fear I'm wishing this day didn't come But soon as I saw that bomb I knew My life was done I heard people screaming and thinking I said to myself How come?
