The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Nothing is Safe Anymore Disappointment runs in people’s faces, Emotional people running and screaming for fear. Sad faces everywhere, Total destruction has occurred. Ruined families crying for their lost ones, Unimaginable thoughts running through people’s minds. Courageous people still can’t hide their tears, Tragedy has taken over the world of Japan, It is a world that is now filled with nothing but sadness. Outside looking for people you know, Now the people of Japan know there is nothing safe around them.
