The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
THE DOUGH OF WOE The dough of the killer is woe Like in that of a foe; The patina of dough on a toe Kindled desperation's flow Like that of a crow Trying to chop as hoe. Labour in exchange for dough In the sense of quid pro quo; An arrow to fit a bow Into another's heart to throw... What does a killer sow With a fatal how of know? The brain of the killer is slow Working for a dreaded Mr. Joe; He could rather say no Shouting at the Mr.; oh! Wait a mo! Don't use metals to sound a POW!
