The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Come Home to this Song Will you spank me in the face When all I do is look away? But you brought me down too soon and never could I pace. My wish as my eyes and mind turn behind; that it would be a day; That there would be many more days, With my father, And not him alone; With my mother, For them to be my own. But our days away you whisk, Leaving nothing but scars. But now, I dare to take a risk, To sing to you a song of embrace, on a night ablaze with stars
