Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

When I heard of the bombing, I was very gloom
My country very sorry for what they have done
I hope you forgive us for the problem we caused
I curse the person who bombed up your nation
I think he is heartless and so do my nation
I feel very sad, sorry
I can reverse this horrible action
After I look at this terrible outcome
I cried and cried until I passed out
I saw burned bodies...i saw nuclear air
I see that you suffered the pain
But surprise, surprise you're doing just fine
