Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Fury's End

Ambitious kindled thousand destructions
Such fleeting memory of creation
Eyes turn blind from the devastating anger
Heart numbs to the society's horror
Chaos dwells on the corrupted dreamer
Shrouded by its greed and hypocrisy
Illuminating angst, still it glimmers
For the heart have no chance of piety
Will the bleak future turns cold just as fast?
Much as the forlorn rose lose its beauty
Or will the world consume the hatred's past
As budding fury froze the society
It's for you mankind the distant future
Your actions will carve destiny so pure
