The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Where’s the Love? Where’s the Sympathy? Revenge isn’t so sweet when you stop and think How many people won’t wake up tomorrow, Won’t eat or drink, Their families feeling evitable sorrow A lone survivor, nowhere to go Do you feel better now? They’re lying unconscious on the blackened snow Scarred for life, forever the tears, Dead bodies strewn here and there Silence, except for the ringing in your ears, Have you no heart? Do you even care?
