Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

It has always been a passion of mine,
The time has never been right,
I have kept the fire burning over time,
Since coming of age, i have lost sight,

I need an aswer as to why,
Why i cant love my neighbor,
I cant lend him a shoulder to cry,
Where did i get this behavior,

I believe you and i can do better,
Change belongs to you and I,
Maybe i am just a dreamer,
But.... The future belongs to you and I,

With hope we can envision peace,
With determination we can deliver peace.
