The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Love is the key I see the terror in their eyes, while their listening to the lies. Lies of happiness and peace, this world is only one big beast. This world is not legit, not one little bit. Happiness lurks in someone's life too, but it only shows itself to a person who's heart is true. War and violence is all we hear, this is one event when we can never cheer. Love is what makes the world go round, not the guns, the blood, and all that sound. Birds chirping is what we should hear, gunfight sounds is what we fear. Love will solve all our problems, because it will fight war in order to solve them.
