The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Acid Dust The dust is the only sound Flesh singed, from once unbroken backs The survivors, the victims of this attack As it falls slowly from the rain cloud For days, for months, for years they cry How human is it to treat another this way To witness the craft of war, the innocents it slayed They suffer so much we hide our eyes Bricks to earth, life to death People who were just living their lives Sisters, brothers, husbands and wives They gasp, they sigh, one last breath The dust is dancing, falling soft with acid pain Silent agony invades the mind A kamikaze revenge of atomic design Mankind must realize this can't happen again
