The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Surprise Farewells The day of panic and chaos Running all over looking for him or her The mushroom rises up into the sky The invisible rays spread and chase each other A few days later, our farewells are said painfully The tears come streaming down our faces Mourn and cries fill the air The day of panic and chaos has ruined our family A couple years later, we walk in memory of our family members We visit their graves and cry once again We walk from Hiroshima to Nagasaki in remembrance of our family members It is all over now, but we won't forget you Farewell
