The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Will There Ever Be Another Quiet Day In Japan? Remember that day when all was well, And then it burst into a world of hell. Remember their souls who are still screaming The ones of those who woke up dreaming. Remember their faces of pain and sorrow And do not forget tomorrow. Listen to their constant screams Replaying in our heads, our hearts, our dreams. Worship every minute you've got, Live the life that they cannot.
