Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

This bomb had changed history.
This bomb was like a water balloon dropping to the ground.
This bomb made me feel terrifed like anything else.
My body was a stone as the horror was dropping right in front of me.
There was a bright flash in the distance.
Was it death?
Was it just a bright flashlight?
I only knew the answer after I woke up.
I have found death all around me.
Dreams have been shatterd like glass.
The beliefs that the people made.
The people who survived a horryfing day.
Peace is what they believe in.
Peace is the key to end that is all to end.
