The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
We all need peace, memories and remembrance, unbendig. Thoughts that cannot be displaced, which always appear new, durable, which encircle us, haunt us, give us hope, unite our search for peace. Longing that excludes everything else, Fear that paralyzes us, hatred that demoralizes our soul, disturb this peace, poisons our thoughts for a better future. Peace within us is the love openly, without prejudices, endlessly and every day anew.
