The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Peace amongst Pieces A bomb, a blast or a blaze, With all its force and phase, Can destroy countries and lives, But peace, never in this life, For our peace is priceless, Our peace is untouchable, And our peace is absolutely indestructible. Tears have painfully flown, Blood have mercilessly been shed, Lives have been innocently lost, But our peace shall live, and live eternally, For we are peace and we are spirits divine, We both shall never die. Peace is our identity, It defines our reality. Peace is our personality, It moulds our morality. Peace is our religion, It emerges our compassion and mercy. So children of the Ocean of Peace, Let us emerge our peace, Stand in peace, Join all the pieces, And unite our world in Peace.
